Our most recent outreach script, Seven Years With Hard Labour, written in partnership with Index on Censorship, launched on Saturday night at the brand new Free Word Centre in central London. Performed to mark the 21st anniversary of the 8th of August uprising, the script was performed by Jeremy Tiang, Alexandra Koren, John Milroy and Alex Barclay to a sell out crowd. The audience included the subjects of the play, Nita May, Htein Lin, Khun Saing and Ko Aung who each spoke movingly after the performance about the huge importance of continuing the campaign against what is happening in Burma. This is especially pertinent after the news yesterday that Aung San Suu Kyi has been sentenced to a further 18 months house arrest.
There’s another chance to see the script as part of our September Monologues season at the Amnesty International Human Rights Action Centre, London on the 10th September. Tickets are free so early booking is highly recommended.
