Room to Heal(Artistic Residency)
ice&fire is currently undertaking an artistic residency in collaboration with Room to Heal, a therapeutic community for asylum seekers and refugees who are survivors of torture or other forms of organised violence.
We are also developing a new music-theatre project with Freedom from Torture.
Over the course of a year, ice&fire will curate and deliver fortnightly sessions for a group of Room to Heal members with a view to creating a piece for live performance at the end of the process.
We will be exploring a variety of modes of expression, including movement and voice work and creative writing.
Expression of individual personality, through demonstrations of the innate creative skills of play and imagination are at the core of what we are trying to achieve with this residency.
I fell in love with the project when you came in with this. For me, I was looking for something to hold onto. – Participant
