I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given To Me by a Young Lady From Rwanda
“They came to our house in the morning. Some of them were our neighbours. The president had been killed in the night. On the radio they said nobody can go out or they will be shot. We all stayed together the whole night. And in the morning there was a knock at the door. Our next door neighbour he said ‘Now is the time for all the Tutsi cockroaches to die.’”
iceandfire’s first play, I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given To Me by a Young Lady from Rwanda, opened at London’s Finborough Theatre in summer 2003 before touring the UK in 2004.
The play received its American premiere at Kansas City Rep in March 2005, and has subsequently gone on to receive 22 highly acclaimed independent productions in theatres right across the United States. Two more US productions are planned for 2010, in North Carolina and Indiana.
