Banished behind bars: Detention in the UK

DESCRIPTION

In the UK, people may find themselves in the asylum system for many years. What is not widely known is asylum seekers may be detained indefinitely, having committed no crime and with no known release date.

Join academics, NGO workers, policy makers, archivists and human rights activists, to share ideas for researching and documenting the experiences of people being detained as asylum seekers in the UK.

Who will be there?

Dr Zibiah Alfred Loakthar from the Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex will be joined by other invited guests.

Who should go?

Those interested in raising awareness of the challenges faced by individuals in the UK asylum system.
